Spanish

At Holy Family Catholic School, we offer Spanish as our specialist language. All students from reception to year six participate in Spanish lessons in line with the Australian Curriculum Languages learning area. Through language learning students are invited to develop communication skills and a global perspective from an early age.

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, connecting people across continents and cultures. Learning another language helps students to develop respect, inclusion, and compassion for others.

Learning Spanish opens doors to one of the world’s most widely spoken languages, with more than 500 million speakers across 21 countries and a growing role in global communication.

Our Spanish program is designed for primary learners and supports the development of communication, literacy, and intercultural understanding while preparing students to be active and informed global citizens.

Through engaging and interactive lessons featuring songs, games, storytelling, role-play, hands-on activities, and digital technologies, students build confidence in using Spanish in meaningful ways.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Languages, the program progressively develops students’ knowledge of everyday vocabulary, greetings, conversations, numbers, colours, family, school life, hobbies, and the rich cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.

We encourage students to approach language learning with curiosity, courage, and kindness, fostering respect for others, an appreciation of diverse perspectives, and the skills to become confident communicators and compassionate global citizens.
